Revolutionizing Mobility: The Impact of Technology on Sustainability

At the CTO Insights Medellín event, Andrés Silva, CEO of Try My Ride, presented how technology is transforming mobility towards more sustainable models. During his talk, he outlined the major challenges associated with urban mobility in Latin America, including the high time lost in commuting, the environmental impact of CO2 emissions, and the economic inequality that affects those who spend a high percentage of their income on transportation. Silva emphasized the importance of addressing these challenges from an innovative and collaborative perspective.

Try My Ride's solution focuses on integrating multiple transportation options, such as carpooling, bicycles and scooters, through a technology platform that fosters safe and sustainable experiences. This application not only connects people through incentives and machine learning technology, but also generates communities of trust within companies, promoting a culture of collaboration, empathy and sustainability through daily actions.

The results achieved by Try My Ride have been significant. Silva shared how its ecosystem has avoided the emission of 32,000 tons of CO2 per year, reduced mobility costs for people with lower incomes by approximately US$600,000 and improved the perception of safety for 99% of women using carpooling. He also highlighted the expansion of the model in Colombia, Peru and Ecuador, with 200,000 monthly active users and an annual growth of 2x.

Finally, Andrés Silva addressed the challenges of implementing solutions such as Try My Ride, from changing users' perception of resource sharing to convincing companies to prioritize budgets for this type of initiative. He stressed the importance of understanding the specific needs of each user profile, developing clear value propositions and strengthening trust between communities to ensure the success and sustainability of the model.
